My past experiences have been being part of the Special needs PTA in Shelton Wa. As well as applying to the Inner Agency Council of Special Need Parents. Here at CPN I serve on our many different committees.  I have advocated in my community and Olympia dealing with school issues for children and adult issues as well. I also have helped many people online in an advocate capacity. I created the Cerebral Palsy Network out of my frustration of the lack of services and support available in my community 14 yrs ago. Now we are a group world wide. My oldest daughter Amanda, 27  has bilateral Schizencephaly, Mixed dystonia CP.

I have dealt with many aspects of raising a child with a disability. I also will help difficult cases were Child Protective services is an issue. I am aware of resources in my community and if I don't know of one I will search for it till I find it.

It is important to me that all individuals have the right to life, that is full of choices and dreams. To have someone who believes in them when it seems the world is against them. Support is the # 1 key to success to a parent and an individual with disabilities.

My Name is Lynda Domina. I live in Bandon Oregon. I have been working with the disabled for over 10 years. My Youngest son Wesley  was born healthy but contracted Encephalitis at the age of 17 days. I have been the major caretaker for him. I have several years experience with working with adults with a variety of disabilities including Cerebral Palsy in the past as a CNA. I also have been working with Wesley since he was an infant doing his daily physical, occupational, speech and sensory therapies. I do not have alot of formal training with these but as all the people here know we get plenty of experience!

I am very involved in his education! I have had to do alot of work in order to get Wesley the program that he has in school today and have helped to start get his school working more with Assistive technology. Wesley used both the pic syms and the pix writer to help him to be able to communicate. I work with him teaching him to use a computer at home and also to become more self sufficient at home. Working to gain a better knowledge of Cerebral Palsy and his other disabilities has been a large part of my life. I am working at becoming more knowledgeable in being a leader so that I can do a better job of being what a good director is. *lol*

Hopefully I will learn more and be able to help more people learn about CP. I am hoping to be able to make people more aware that the fact that a person has a disability does not make them less of a person! I will do my best to help anyone I can! Please feel free to contact me!
